There are expectations of Napa Valley Red Blend. A specific set of “RULES” must be followed. The grapes must be picked at a certain sugar range, fermented at the exact temperature for a certain amount of time, and rest several months in the perfect combination of oak barrels. We follow all of the rules, except we break the one rule most wineries won’t… the price.
WINEMAKING: The 2015 vintage was one of incredible quality but minimal yields. Several years of California drought led to less water for the vines during the growing season. This produced smaller grapes, resembling blueberries, giving the wine both intense color and flavor. This vintage promises a wine rich in color with fragrant aromas and extracted flavors.
TASTING NOTES: Black cherry, currant, and vanilla, with a hint of floral, are rooted in the initial aromas of this Cabernet. The concentrated palate evolves from blackberries into a lush combination of licorice, tobacco, and toasty oak.
FOOD PAIRINGS: The 2015 Rule pairs well with beef, duck, chocolate and distinctive cheeses, such as Aged Gouda, Danish Blue and Sharp Cheddar.
